Call of Duty Cake

Inspired by a Pinterest post my friend Ashla and I made this cake for her brother-in-law who is a fan of Call of Duty games.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the fondant to lay flat but I think it still looks pretty good.

Here is is with the added silver luster dust.

Disney's Frozen Birthday Cake

For Addison's 9th Birthday...

Vanilla buttercream rosettes in a blue to white ombre.  Blue blueberry flavored hard candy broken to make ice.  Disney characters purchased through Amazon.com and Elsa on top is from the Disney.com

Recipe for hard candy:
2 C sugar
1 C corn syrup
1/2 C water

stir at medium high heat.  Make sure all sugar dissolves.  Use a candy thermometer and heat to 290 degrees.  Or use the ice water method and drop hot sugar liquid into ice water it it turns solid like hard candy then it is done.  Turn off heat and add food coloring and flavoring if desired.  Let cool in a Aluminum foil lined pan that has been greased with oil.  Poor hot sugar liquid into pan and leave it to cool.  Once cooled you can break pieces for ice.

Death Star Cake

I really didn't like making this cake because it wasn't perfectly spherical which bothered me.  I know what to do for the next time I make a spherical cake, but I don't plan on making one any time soon :-)
a little personalization

Twins Halloween Birthday cake

Since my boys birthday is only 6 days away from Halloween we decided to have a Halloween themed birthday party.  They loved it and it was so much fun having the kids dress up.

I made this cake using white cake mix which I colored with food dye.  Frosted the cake with butter cream and then colored and rolled fondant.  The toppers are just plastic wind up toys I found in the store.

I used the neon food coloring I found in our local grocery stores.

As you can tell they had a great day!

Lalaloopsy cake

This was one of those hectic weeks and I didn't have time to make a fondant Lalaloopsy cake so I found these plastic cake toppers on Etsy.  She seemed just as happy and I didn't have to do much work.

Chewy!

Here's a simple Chewbacca cake I made for my son's 16th birthday using chocolate frosting and some fondant.
