Happy 4th of July

Mini 4th of July cupcakes...
absolute cuteness.

Mini 4th of July cupcakes made with white cake mix divided into thirds and dyed red and blue with food coloring.  Frosted with butter cream and topped off with American flags and silver dragees.

The Cheeseburger Cake

I made this cake for my son's 14th birthday BBQ.  It was a huge hit with all his friends.  One of them initially thought it was a real giant cheese burger and not a cake.
It's a three layered cake and the middle (burger patty) layer is a brownie.  Fondant was used to make the cheese, tomato, lettuce, and pickles, buttercream was used to frost the cake and sliced almonds as sesame seeds.  The french fries was a last minute thing... I had my husband run to the store and buy pound cake that I just cut up and put red icing on top as ketchup.

Here's the cake without the fries so you can see the bottom layer.

and here is his itemized bill.  Numbers had to do with his birth date, age, and birth weight.

This was as easy and fun cake to make and enjoyed by all.
