Call of Duty Cake
Inspired by a Pinterest post my friend Ashla and I made this cake for her brother-in-law who is a fan of Call of Duty games.
Unfortunately, I didn't get the fondant to lay flat but I think it still looks pretty good.

Recipe for hard candy:
2 C sugar
1 C corn syrup
1/2 C water
stir at medium high heat. Make sure all sugar dissolves. Use a candy thermometer and heat to 290 degrees. Or use the ice water method and drop hot sugar liquid into ice water it it turns solid like hard candy then it is done. Turn off heat and add food coloring and flavoring if desired. Let cool in a Aluminum foil lined pan that has been greased with oil. Poor hot sugar liquid into pan and leave it to cool. Once cooled you can break pieces for ice.

Death Star Cake
I really didn't like making this cake because it wasn't perfectly spherical which bothered me. I know what to do for the next time I make a spherical cake, but I don't plan on making one any time soon :-)
a little personalization
decorated with fondant, butter cream icing, and edible luster dust.

Twins Halloween Birthday cake
Since my boys birthday is only 6 days away from Halloween we decided to have a Halloween themed birthday party. They loved it and it was so much fun having the kids dress up.
I made this cake using white cake mix which I colored with food dye. Frosted the cake with butter cream and then colored and rolled fondant. The toppers are just plastic wind up toys I found in the store.
I used the neon food coloring I found in our local grocery stores.
As you can tell they had a great day!

Lalaloopsy cake
This was one of those hectic weeks and I didn't have time to make a fondant Lalaloopsy cake so I found these plastic cake toppers on Etsy. She seemed just as happy and I didn't have to do much work.
Chewy!
Here's a simple Chewbacca cake I made for my son's 16th birthday using chocolate frosting and some fondant.

Musk Ox Cake
I made this cake at the request of an old man who wanted a small cake for his wife's birthday. He told me that she likes white cake, musk oxes, and blueberries. So I make this small two layered white cake with homemade blueberry filling, cream cheese frosting, chocolate rocks, and fondant decorations.
I made his fur with the help of my KichenAid pasta attachment.
I just hope that when I turn 70 my husband is just as thoughtful.

Cake Push Pops
I found these cute plastic push pop containers and the acryllic stand all on Amazon.com
Strawberry short cake push pops
Made with yellow cake, whipped cream, and strawberries
Here's a Banana cream pie one.
Made with banana pudding, sliced bananas, whipped cream, and mini Nilla wafers
I made these for dessert one Sunday when we had some friends over. I like them because they are the perfect portion size for me and the kiddos. The friends we had over though were Gold mining men with large appetites... one man could easily eat a whole tray of these ;-) So if you make these... make plenty.
Feed My Sheep
Fluffy Sheep Cupcakes
Aren't these adorable? I made these to give away at church when I had taught a lesson about missionary work. Here's the link to the lesson if you are interested https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2007/10/feed-my-sheep?lang=eng
This would also be a great Idea for Easter too. I used pink fondant for the head and ears. Made the eyes with white fondant and black edible ink pen. Frosted some cupcakes white. attached the head and had the kids help with putting on white mini marshmallows (they loved doing this).

Purple Ombre Wedding Cake
I made this cake for a friend as a wedding gift. This cake turned out better than I had expected. The bride's only request was that it had purple in it everything thing else was up to me. My original plan was to make a white fondant cake with purple flowers. After hours of baking I nixed the fondant idea and decided to stick with buttercream (plus it tastes better).
I used 12 in, 9 in, and 6 in cake rounds. Each tier has two layers of cake. Bottom tier is white cake with tundraberry jam filling, Middle is chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling, and top is a strawberry flavored cake with vanilla buttercream filling.
After frosting each tier with a layer of buttercream I piped simple roses using Wilton's 2D tip.
Making the buttercream roses is a very easy process. You just start from the inside working out and spiral around in a circle. The 2D tip is what makes this look beautiful. There are numerous You Tube videos on how to do this... here is one: Rose Swirl 2D tip
After making all the rose swirls I felt like the cake needed something more. So I made these cute white ruffle flowers.
For the leaves I just cut out leaf shapes and used my fondant ball tip tool and rolled it around the edges. The centers of the flowers are edible silver dragees glued with a little corn syrup.
Isn't it gorgeous!
The bride gave me a lot of flexibility on this one. I am glad it turned out well.
